ABOUT THE PROGRAM

 

Since March, 2020, COVID has forced us to try just about everything in a virtual world, and in almost every aspect of our lives. From online grocery shopping and healthcare to virtually welcoming new employees to firms, society has been pressed to innovate and re-think the status quo in a truly unprecedented way.

 

PSU’s 16th Annual Real Estate Conference aims to provide a rich dialogue focused on COVID-accelerated trends that will affect the real estate industry for years to come. 

 

In lieu of a ticket price, we ask that attendees consider making a donation to our scholarship fund. Any donation amount is welcome, and all donations go directly to PSU real estate students.

Mike Morey

Mike has been active in the commercial real estate finance and investment industry for more than 25 years. He currently oversees StanCorp Mortgage Investors’ origination, servicing and participation programs, as well as their commercial real estate equity investments and portfolio. Mike is a member of the board of directors and past president of Westside Economic Alliance in Portland, OR, the current Chairman of the Portland State  University Center for Real Estate Advisory Board, and a member of the board of directors of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce.  He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.

Karen Thomas
Gensler, Regional Magaging Partner  

 

Karen is a senior executive at the world’s largest design and architectural firm. Karen sits on the Gensler Corporate Board of Directors and global Management Committee providing oversight for an international platform of over 48 global offices and 6700 professionals. Karen co-leads the Northwest Region for the firm with a day to day focus on the Portland/Seattle/Vancouver BC and the San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose markets as her primary focus. Her current work is focused on global growth and impact in our cities, downtown revitalization and client relationship development with major technology, commercial office, mixed use, consumer goods, aviation, hospitality, sports and science development including many of the Fortune 500 companies. Her career accomplishments in the architecture industry earned her induction into the American Institute of Architects’ esteemed College of Fellows, along with the recent award of the Puget Sound Women of Influence honor and named as a Washington State “Power 100” Business Leader.

Karen has consistently been involved in board and civic leadership roles. She was elected Chairman of the Seattle Sports Commission in 2018 and has served on numerous executive Boards of Directors including Visit Seattle Tourism Board, Bloedel Reserve and Seattle ArtsFund. She is currently appointed to the Building Cyber Security Board of Advisors in Washington, DC. Karen has taught in architecture programs at UC Berkeley and was on Adjunct Faculty at the University of Washington for over ten years. This broad mix of involvement helps Karen focus on building and influencing community on many levels – through arts, culture, sports, and education; through city, state and national civic engagement, and in design impact and business leadership. Karen earned her professional architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Anyeley Hallová
Adre, Founder 

 

Anyeley is an equity and sustainability-focused real estate developer with over 17 years of experience from mixed-use developments to office headquarters for non-profits. She started Adre in Portland, Oregon in 2020 to focus on real estate projects that seek to create wealth for the Black community and for other underrepresented groups that traditionally lack access to real estate ownership and investment.
 
Prior to Adre, she was a partner with project^ for 12 years, with a focus on shepherding development projects through entitlements and construction. During her tenure, she delivered over $110M in award-winning sustainable market-rate housing, student housing, homes for sale, retail, and offices for mission-driven organizations. 
 
Her civic work includes a governor appointment to Oregon’s Land Conservation and Development Commission (LCDC) and a mayoral appointment to Portland’s Adjustment Committee, Community Involvement Committee for the Portland Plan, and Policy Expert Group for Residential Development and Compatibility for the Comp Plan. She is currently serving on the board of the U.S Green Building Council.
 
The Urban Land Institute named her “40 under 40” as one of the best young land-use professionals from around the globe; the Portland Business Journal named her a “Top 40 Under 40”; and The Daily Journal of Commerce named her a “Woman of Vision”.

James Breeze

CBRE, Senior Director and Global Head of Industrial & Logistics Research 

 

James Breeze serves as Senior Director and Global Head of Industrial & Logistics Research. James is responsible for helping internal and external clients make real estate decisions by providing forward looking data and analysis. An accomplished public speaker and writer, James is a primary spokesperson on the industrial real estate environment.


James brings nearly 20 years of experience in commercial real estate from time spent as National Director of Industrial Research at Colliers International. During his nearly four years at Colliers, James produced a wide variety of thought-leadership pieces that were showcased in Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Bisnow, Globe Street, and many others.


James started his career at Cushman & Wakefield as an entry level analyst, quickly climbing the ranks to become an industrial broker in California’s Inland Empire. After nearly three years as a broker, James returned to research, managing the industrial and office teams in Southern California and Arizona. James was also a member of the U.S. industrial research team.


Born and raised in the Inland Empire, James is a graduate of California State University - San Bernardino with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Minor in Finance. James currently resides with his family in Phoenix, AZ.

Marc manages tenant leasing, assists in the development and acquisition of new projects and oversees a wide range of Gramor Development properties in Oregon and Washington.
